Natural Zeolite in Construction

Zeolite in ConstructionSince ancient times, natural zeolites have been used in construction, mainly as a piece of stone. Today zeolite is used as an anticorrosive admixture of cements. It improves the stability of cement suspensions significantly and can adsorb moisture more efficiently than silica gel. A mixture of cement and zeolite is used for the production of high-strength concrete with greater resistance to compression than the Portland cement.

Natural zeolite may be used as an inert admixture to sealing mixtures for ecological buildings to prevent the spread of contaminated waters, chemical or from any other industrial enterprises. Zeolite is also used as an additive for the production of light construction building materials and well suited for the production of hydraulic cements, chemical resistant for exposure.

Natural zeolites is used in nuclear power engineering because they are resistant to nuclear degradation, and are cheaper than organic ion exchange resins. Zeolites quickly react with the cement and glass, which allows you to create more robust concrete storages for radioactive materials.
